Introducing Luca Pitt, one of our skilled Hydrographic Surveyors at SEP Hydrographic.
Luca joined the team after being impressed by the high-quality visual outputs and data deliverables shared by SEP Hydrographic, particularly those from asset inspection surveys. Eager to build on his hydrographic skills, Luca has fit right in with our experienced team.
With a BSc in Marine Geography from Cardiff University, Luca discovered his passion for hydrography during a placement year as a hydrographer at The Port of Dover. His love for geography started at a young age, and his career path has allowed him to explore a range of exciting challenges.
What excites Luca most about his work? "My 'office' can be in the North Sea one day and an inland river the next!" he says. "Each project presents its own unique challenges, and it's fascinating to observe how areas change over time and what that means for the environment."
When asked about common misconceptions, Luca says, "Many people think hydrography is just about producing maps. In reality, it's much more dynamic—it's about understanding the changing environment and delivering valuable insights that support everything from coastal management to infrastructure projects."
